Job summary

The Graduate Center, City University of New York, seeks an Executive Director of Institutional Equity/Administrator (EDIE) to lead compliance and diversity programs across GC, SOJ, MHC, and SLU. You will oversee investigations, training, and policy implementation to promote equal opportunity and prevent misconduct, reporting to the President and collaborating with campus stakeholders.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Knowledge of discrimination, harassment and equal opportunity laws; experience applying discrimination laws.
• Experience conducting investigations of legal or policy violations, e.g., employee or student misconduct.
• Willingness to counsel the campus community on equal opportunity issues and investigate or otherwise address complaints of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation, nepotism and other student or staff misconduct.
• Experience presenting educational materials to adult learners; experience developing and presenting educational programs on discrimination, harassment, equal opportunity or related topics.
• Experience in, and a demonstrated ongoing commitment to, working effectively with and across diverse communities.
• Experience in higher education.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; strong writing and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and investigates allegations of violations of CUNY’s Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy for GC, MHC, SOJ, and SLU; conducts intake meetings, initial assessments, interviews, evidence review, and investigative reports.
• Responds to and investigates violations of CUNY’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct for GC, MHC, and SOJ; conducts intake meetings, initial assessments, interviews, evidence review, and reports.
• Maintains and updates the University-wide case management system; enters data and documentation; ensures records reflect status and progression.
• Oversees multi-level recruitment and selection across GC, SOJ, MHC, SLU; oversees CDO reviews; advises on recruitment issues; approves salary offers ensuring equity.
• Works with HR to ensure mandatory training compliance; facilitates live training sessions as needed.
• Participates in policy development and strategic response planning for sensitive issues including discrimination, harassment, and other conduct matters.
• Develops, oversees, and delivers training, materials, and communications related to discrimination, harassment, equal opportunity and related policies.
• Serves as Campus Ethics Officer for GC, SOJ, MHC, SLU; liaison with COELIG; oversees ethics training, SETA reporting, and FDS process; advises on ethics requirements.
• Oversees and reviews development of annual Evaluation and Plan for Employment of Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities; ensures compliance with federal/state requirements.
• Reviews workforce data to assess diversity, representation, and employment trends; provides analyses to leadership.
• Serve as Domestic Violence Agency Liaison (DVAL) for GC and MHC; coordinate responses and data reporting.
• Participates in initiatives to improve services and communications; serves on committees; recruits, supervises staff.
• Member of Graduate Center President’s senior leadership team; performs other duties as assigned.
