Job summary

Carnegie Museums seeks a visionary Vice President and Chief Development Officer (VPCDO) to guide philanthropic strategy across its four-museum system. You will lead major gifts, campaigns, and donor relations, collaborating with senior leadership to maximize fundraising impact.

You will oversee operations, budgets, and an embedded team structure, ensuring ethical and compliant practices while advancing CM’s mission within the Pittsburgh community and beyond.

Qualifications

• Must have undergraduate degree; graduate degree preferred.
• Significant experience in fundraising with success in campaigns.
• Experience with relationship management and donor relations.

Responsibilities

• Set vision and plan to drive philanthropic investment across CM’s four-museum system.
• Develop relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations, and groups.
• Oversee systems to achieve departmental goals and budgets.
• Solicit and close major gifts with senior leadership involvement.
• Collaborate on communications and public relations for donors and community.
• Lead embedded development teams to support museum priorities and fundraising goals.
• Oversee capital campaigns and endowment fundraising efforts.
• Manage staff, ensure ethics, compliance with laws, and stakeholder relations.
