Job summary

The New York Academy of Sciences in New York, NY seeks a Vice President of Development to lead the philanthropic strategy, build donor relationships, and align fundraising with scientific and educational initiatives.

Reporting to the President and COO, you will manage a development team, cultivate corporate, foundation, and individual donors, and drive multi‑year revenue growth through strategic partnerships and campaigns.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressively senior fundraising leadership experience.
• Proven success securing major and principal gifts and forging corporate partnerships.
• Experience leading comprehensive advancement programs at complex nonprofit, higher education, research, or science-based organizations.
• Proven ability to build and manage high-performing development teams.
• Ability to deliver detailed fundraising performance reports to senior leadership and the board.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute a comprehensive philanthropic strategy to achieve revenue goals.
• Partner with senior leadership to drive donor engagement and external partnerships.
• Expand corporate, foundation, and institutional partnerships for multi-year funding.
• Manage high-level donor cultivation and solicitation with a robust pipeline of gifts.
