Job summary

Jewish Family Service of MetroWest is seeking a Chief Development Officer to lead development, Board engagement, and community fundraising initiatives. You will direct donor cultivation, supervise the development team, and coordinate with the CEO and CFO on budgets and strategic plans.

You will build relationships with donors and ensure strong stewardship across major gift programs, events, and giving societies. This role requires senior nonprofit experience and proven fundraising leadership.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, communications, or related field.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• 7–10+ years of senior-level experience in fundraising, corporate development, or nonprofit management.
• Exceptional public speaking and interpersonal skills to articulate agency value.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A track record of success in raising money through major gifts and philanthropy.
• Leadership experience with strategic thinking and breakthrough fundraising approaches.
• Strong ability to analyze data, manage department budgets and forecast financial trends.
• People management experience and ability to work with a board.
• Technologically savvy about social media and tech-driven fundraising approaches.

Responsibilities

• Board and Leadership Development: orientation sessions, board education, and fundraising training.
• Board liaison and committee engagement; plan Board/EC activities and minutes.
• Fundraising: oversee agency fundraising, donor cultivation, budgets, gala, giving societies, tribute funds.
• Supervisory responsibilities: supervise Development staff and manage budgets with grants.
• Community engagement: support donor events and sponsor proposals; maintain donor relations.
• Administration: coordinate with Business Office and grant writer on funding needs.
