Job summary

United Jewish Communities seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead the planning, management, and evaluation of fundraising, board engagement, and marketing across the agency. The role is a senior leadership position reporting to the CEO and integral to the organization’s strategic growth.

You will direct donor relations, supervise the development team, and partner with leadership to set budgets and campaigns, including major gifts and annual events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, public policy, communications, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 7–10+ years of senior-level fundraising, corporate development, or nonprofit management experience.
• Exceptional public speaking and interpersonal skills to articulate agency value.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all Agency fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
• Supervise development staff and work with CEO/CFO on fundraising budgets.
• Develop and manage the annual Development Department budget.
• Plan and execute major fundraising events (direct mail campaigns, galas, donor societies).
• Maintain strong relationships with donors and prospects to support development initiatives.
• Represent the Agency in the community as directed by the CEO.
• Collaborate with the grant writer and Business Office on funding needs.
• Ensure timely processing and acknowledgement of all gifts.
