Job summary

Allen Control Systems seeks a Chief Engineer for Computer Vision and Machine Learning to own the CV/ML system architecture for autonomous anti-drone capabilities. You will set the technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and guide real-time perception from concept through field validation.

You will collaborate with VP of AI and engineering managers to align strategy with product goals and hardware-in-the-loop testing in a defense context.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of machine-learning-based CV and signal processing experience.
• Track record of owning the architecture of perception/autonomy systems across multiple years and releases.
• Ability to set technical direction and drive alignment across teams and programs.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers or leading teams.
• Strong proficiency in Python and C++, with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving engineering-first environment with real-world consequences.

Responsibilities

• Own the CV/ML stack roadmap and architecture, guiding managers and engineers to execute the plan.
• Make and document critical technical decisions: sensor/compute architecture, model strategy, real-time performance tradeoffs.
• Resolve the hardest technical problems from concept to field-validation.
• Lead and mentor a group of senior CV/ML engineers and managers.
• Align technical strategy with product goals, delivery commitments, and hiring plans.
• Maintain high technical standards through architecture and design reviews and validations.
