Job summary

Allen Control Systems is seeking a Chief Engineer for Computer Vision and Machine Learning to own the architectural direction of CV/ML systems in our autonomous gun turret. You will work with the VP of AI and engineering managers to align strategy with product goals and oversee a small team of senior engineers.

The role demands 15+ years in CV/ML, hands-on expertise in Python/C++, and a track record of delivering real-time, safety-critical perception systems.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in machine-learning-based computer vision and signal processing, ideally in robotics.
• Ability to own architecture of complex perception/autonomy systems across releases.
• Experience setting technical direction and aligning teams through influence and authority.
• Mentoring senior team members, including managers and staff engineers.
• Strong background in ML/CV with emphasis on real-time or safety-critical apps.

Responsibilities

• Own the CV/ML stack architecture and roadmap for real-time drone detection and tracking.
• Make and document critical decisions on sensor/compute architecture and model strategy.
• Drive the hardest technical problems from concept to field validation.
• Lead and mentor senior CV/ML engineers and managers across the team.
• Align technical strategy with product goals, delivery commitments, and hiring plans.
• Uphold high technical quality through reviews and validation standards.
