Job summary

First State Bank seeks a Chief Credit Officer to guide strategy for lending practices and risk controls. You will lead the credit function, oversee policies, and ensure regulatory compliance while driving portfolio performance and asset quality.

With a decade of lending experience and strong leadership, you will manage a team, collaborate with committees, and implement robust credit systems across branches and divisions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of combined lending experience.
• Preferred minimum of five years leading the credit function.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Graduate degree in banking, business administration, or equivalent preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Oversee credit approval and portfolio monitoring for all credit products.
• Review and communicate credit policies across the organization.
• Ensure loan loss reserve and charge-off processes meet guidelines.
• Maintain loan documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Provide portfolio oversight to meet asset quality objectives.
• Manage direct reports and performance evaluations.
• Interface with credit admin, quality control, audit, compliance, and regulators.
• Develop and manage loan analyst system for the division.
• Visit branches to meet lenders and customers.
• Present credits to executive loan committee and update policies.
