Job summary

Turn, a venture-backed, AI-native background screening company, is seeking a General Counsel to lead legal and regulatory strategy as we scale. You will partner with the CEO and cross-functional leaders to build the framework that enables rapid growth while maintaining compliance and integrity.

This role requires a JD with US bar, 8+ years in startups, FCRA expertise, and a practical, data-driven approach to risk.

Qualifications

JD from an accredited law school and active US bar membership.
8+ years of legal experience at a startup or high-growth company.
Direct experience with FCRA compliance and CRA industry.
Experience using AI/data tools to improve legal workflows.
Able to translate legal complexity into practical business guidance.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary legal resource and General Counsel.
Own compliance with FCRA, state background screening laws, and evolving AI/privacy regulations.
Review and negotiate client MSAs, data licensing, and vendor agreements.
Advise on employment law, governance, and fundraising.
Develop internal compliance programs, policies, and training materials.
Monitor regulatory landscape and communicate risk to leadership.
