Job summary

NPR is seeking a Senior Vice President of Content Strategy & Business Development in Washington, DC. You will architect and execute NPR’s external partnerships to expand editorial reach and enterprise distribution while aligning with Content’s strategic objectives.

You will work with the Chief Content Officer to design scalable business models, monetize content, and ensure editorial standards across all deals and platforms.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in media business development, content licensing, distribution, or syndication within news or digital publishing.
• Proven history of initiating, negotiating, and closing complex, revenue-generating content distribution and licensing partnerships.
• Demonstrated ability to structure IP licensing, copyright agreements, and revenue-sharing models.

Responsibilities

• Drive strategic business development, monetization, and revenue growth through distribution deals, co-productions, and licensing.
• Expand distribution channels with digital platforms, streaming networks, and public media systems to maximize reach and revenue.
• Collaborate with the CCO and newsroom leads to protect editorial standards while growing the network’s footprint.
• Oversee contract lifecycle, licensing terms, and IP oversight with legal counsel, plus OKR-driven execution.
