Job description

With an overarching mission to eliminate ageism and ensure the dignity and quality of life of approximately 1.8 million older New Yorkers, the NYC Department for the Aging is deeply committed to helping older adults age in their homes and creating a community-care approach that reflects a model age-inclusive city.

Division of Operations & Administration

Responsible for maintaining efficiency and effectiveness throughout the agency to ensure that all programs have the resources, tools, and support they need to succeed. The Bureau of Financial Services (BFS) oversees the agency’s operating and capital budget, including:

  1. Budget, Payment Services, Claiming, and Revenue Accounting and Audit Functions
  2. Ensuring timely payments and proper fund expenditure on allowable services with reasonable and auditable costs
  3. Reviewing audited financial statements from providers and investigating concerns
Position: Chief Compliance Officer

NYC Aging seeks a highly motivated senior manager with broad experience in compliance, audits, financial reporting, and fiscal processes. The role reports to the CFO and the First Deputy Commissioner and involves:

  1. Serving as the lead liaison with oversight bodies and regulatory agencies regarding audit and risk management
  2. Coordinating responses to audits and monitoring risk mitigation strategies
  3. Facilitating communication among leadership, staff, and supervisors to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
  4. Leading internal audits to promote quality improvement
  5. Developing and updating policies to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  6. Researching and implementing compliance software tools
  7. Ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards and preparing reports based on findings
  8. Identifying and mitigating activities that could violate regulations
  9. Organizing training sessions on compliance rules and regulations
Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree and four years of experience in organizational management, with at least 18 months in a supervisory or executive role, or

2. Equivalent education and experience, with the required supervisory experience.
