Job summary

OceanFirst Bank is seeking a Chief Communications Officer to lead the bank's communications strategy and partner with the CEO on enterprise priorities. The role unites corporate, executive, employee, customer, media, ESG, and reputation efforts under a single enterprise voice.

The candidate will translate strategy into compelling narratives, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and build a high-performing team with advanced measurement and AI-enabled analytics to support growth and risk management.

Qualifications

• Strong strategic communications leadership for a financial institution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, storytelling, and editor skills.
• Experience guiding executive visibility and stakeholder engagement.
• Crisis, issues management, and regulatory communications experience.
• Leadership experience building high-performing teams and operating models.

Responsibilities

• Define the enterprise communications strategy and own the multi-year plan aligned to business growth, reputation, brand, and value proposition.
• Serve as the CEO's principal communications advisor and partner with the Chief of Staff on an integrated annual plan and 90-day calendar.
• Elevate executive visibility with stakeholder and thought-leadership programs for customers, employees, investors, media, and regulators.
• Lead crisis and issues management, regulatory developments, and high-stakes events, acting as senior decision-maker and escalation point.
• Build and develop a high-performing communications function with scalable processes, talent, and measurement capabilities, including AI-enabled analytics.
