Job summary

The Town of East Haven is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief Examiner. This role administers Civil Service examinations and oversees the competitive hiring process, coordinating recruitment, candidate review, and records management.

Qualified candidates will have at least a high school diploma, five years of related experience, and an associate's degree is preferred. This is a part-time (19.5 hours/week) position with no medical benefits or pension.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources, Civil Service, municipal government, or a closely related field.
• Equivalents in education/experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Administers the Town's Civil Service examinations.
• Oversees all aspects of the competitive hiring process for the town.
• Coordinates recruitment, application review, examination administration, eligibility lists, certification of candidates, Commission support, records management, and compliance with laws, regulations, and Town policies.
