Job summary

The East Haven Police Department is seeking qualified entry level and certified police applicants to fill full time patrol officer vacancies.

Candidates must pass a written examination, oral interview, the current POST physical assessment and a Chief's interview, along with background checks, polygraph, psychological and medical examinations including drug screening. A competitive benefits package including a pension plan is offered.

The East Haven Police Department, as part of its ongoing hiring campaign, is seeking qualified entry level and certified police applicants to fill full time patrol officer vacancies.

• Certified Officers with a minimum of two years of certification – Grade A – $91,831 per year and one week of vacation upon successful completion of field training (Effective 07/01/2025).
• Entry level hires start at Grade C – $73,024 per year.
• After one year, Grade B – $82,589 per year.
• After two years, Grade A – $91,831.

• All candidates will be required to successfully complete a written examination, oral interview, the current P.O.S.T physical assessment and a Chief's interview.
• Candidates must successfully pass a background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical examination including drug screening.
