Job summary

Ingham County is seeking a County Highway Engineer to oversee Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Permit/Development, and the Signal Shop. You will guide road and bridge projects, coordinate with townships and state agencies, and ensure compliance with department standards.

The role requires a PE license in Michigan, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, and at least six years of related experience, with leadership responsibilities and budget oversight. Travel across the county is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Six years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer license in Michigan (PE) and valid Michigan driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Directs Engineering, Permit, Traffic and Signal Shop activities and teams.
• Reviews expenditures and manages construction program budgets.
• Represents the Road Department with state/federal officials and partner agencies.
• Develops short- and long-term road/bridge improvement programs and cost estimates.
• Ensures projects are designed and constructed to department standards and schedules.
