Position Overview

This role involves overseeing plans review, inspections, and enforcement to ensure compliance with building codes and standards. The position requires providing technical assistance, supervising staff, and managing departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and supervise the Building Division staff, ensuring efficient department operations.
2. Communicate with municipal and company management about building codes and trends.
3. Manage division budget, handle complaints, and prepare reports.
4. Facilitate meetings and coordinate with other departments.
5. Review plans and conduct inspections on complex projects.
6. Implement and manage paperless review and inspection systems.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of Florida, Miami Dade, and national building codes.
• Ability to interpret plans and perform onsite inspections.
• Leadership skills to direct and supervise staff effectively.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years supervisory experience.
• Certification by the Miami Dade Board of Rules and Appeals.

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Building Code Administrator (Florida).
• State of Florida Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Certified General Contractor.

Physical Demands

Must have sensory skills to communicate effectively and perform inspections, including the ability to operate office equipment and perform physical activities related to inspections.
