Job summary

Montgomery County seeks a Division Chief for Building Design & Construction to lead the Division’s strategy for development, capital project delivery, and asset management. This executive will direct lifecycle oversight from site selection through turnover and stabilization, ensuring safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.

The role directs architects, engineers, and construction managers, coordinating with external partners and regulators to deliver a robust CIP portfolio with strong governance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in architecture, engineering, project management, design and construction; three years in leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and construction of CIP projects ranging from millions to over $100M.
• Oversee approximately $1B in active projects annually and ~30 completed projects per year.
• Provide executive oversight of all construction activities across the capital portfolio.
• Establish delivery standards, controls, and best practices.
• Manage contracts, change orders, and project expenditures within delegated authority.
• Coordinate with permitting/regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
