Job summary

Dougherty County is seeking a Chief Appraiser to oversee all real and personal property assessments for the annual tax digest. The role supervises appraisal staff, coordinates valuation schedules in the CAMA system, and ensures accuracy of tax records and maps across the county.

You will interpret laws before the Board of Equalization, handle disputes, and prepare the operating budget request for the Tax Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Accounting, Business Management or related field with five years of related experience; three years in supervisory roles.
• Four years of computerized work processing and spreadsheet experience.
• Must possess and maintain Georgia Driver’s License and be certified as Appraiser IV per Georgia State Standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee assessments of all real and personal property for the annual tax digest.
• Develops and implements schedules and procedures for property valuation in the CAMA system; supervise staff.
• Interpret laws/regulations before Board of Equalization; handle unresolved disputes and appeals; manage budget requests.
