Job summary

Whitfield County Tax Assessor's Office is seeking a qualified executive to lead department programs, staff, and resources. The role directs policy, budget, and operations to ensure accurate assessments and timely reporting, while engaging with the public and officials.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, parcel mapping oversight, and preparing the Tax Digest, with emphasis on compliance, transparency, and strategic planning to serve the community effectively.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate’s degree in business management or related field with seven years of progressively responsible experience in property appraisal and assessment work.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and Appraiser IV Certification from the State of Georgia.

Responsibilities

• Direct department programs, services, staff, and resources; develop policies and procedures; ensure compliance with state laws.
• Supervise, evaluate, and develop staff; conduct performance appraisals and address employee concerns.
• Direct parcel mapping, tax digest preparation, and review annual consolidation and total sheets by tax district.
• Prepare analytic reports, identify valuation issues, and implement corrective solutions.
• Manage department budget and financial reporting; interact with citizens, officials, and stakeholders to promote understanding of the office.
