Job summary

Napa County is seeking a Chief Appraiser to lead the Assessor Valuation Division within the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Department. The role will value real and personal property, perform complex appraisals, and oversee assessment appeals.

Under administrative direction, the Chief Appraiser directs division operations, develops objectives and procedures, and may serve as Deputy Assessor in the absence of the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk; this is an at-will position with a January 2027

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible property appraising or auditing experience including three years of supervisory responsibility.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in economics, civil engineering, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field.

• Lead the Assessor Valuation Division within the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Department.
• Value real and personal property and perform complex property appraisals; oversee assessment appeals.
