Job summary

San Benito County's Assessor's Office seeks a Chief Appraiser to lead the Valuation Divisions, directing real and personal property appraisals and overseeing procedures, records, and standardization across the division.

The role requires strong supervision, policy development, and interaction with the Assessor and Assistant Assessor to keep assessment rolls accurate and compliant with laws. A California driver’s license and an Advanced Appraiser Certificate are required.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible appraisal experience in a California Assessors Office.
• Two years in a full supervisory capacity.
• Experience with commercial/industrial or personal property appraisals and auditing.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, organize and manage the Valuation Divisions; set objectives and monitor performance.
• Direct day-to-day divisional activities through supervisors and review laws affecting valuation.
• Develop and implement procedures to meet legislative mandates and ensure accurate assessment rolls.
