Job summary

The Executive Director of the Notre Dame Alumni Association and Associate Vice President for University Relations leads Notre Dame’s lifelong engagement with alumni, parents, families, and friends worldwide. Reporting to the Vice President for University Relations, the role serves as a senior ambassador for the University.

This position requires significant travel and evening/weekend commitments and leadership of a large volunteer network to align programs with Notre Dame’s Catholic mission.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in alumni relations or higher education.
• Experience working with boards and volunteer leaders.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to travel extensively and work evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for alumni engagement aligned with Notre Dame priorities.
• Lead the Alumni Association and supervise staff and volunteers.
• Collaborate with the Alumni Board and volunteer leaders to advance initiatives.
• Represent Notre Dame publicly and maintain strong external relationships.
• Develop future leaders and ensure succession planning across programs.
• Partner with University Relations and other units to connect alumni to the university mission.
