Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking an Executive Director of the Notre Dame Alumni Association and Associate Vice President for University Relations to provide strategic leadership for lifelong engagement with alumni, parents, families and friends worldwide.

Reporting to the Vice President for University Relations, the Executive Director serves as the University’s senior leader for alumni engagement and as a visible ambassador for Notre Dame.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Significant leadership experience in alumni relations, advancement, or nonprofit leadership.
• Experience working with boards and volunteer leaders.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to build trusted relationships across diverse communities.
• Strong strategic thinking with data-informed decision making.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set vision and long-term strategy for alumni engagement aligned with Notre Dame priorities.
• Lead the Alumni Association team to deliver programs and oversee volunteers.
• Partner with the Alumni Association Board and volunteer leaders to advance engagement.
• Strengthen lifelong relationships with alumni, parents, and friends worldwide.
• Represent Notre Dame at alumni events, gatherings, and official functions.
• Model collegial leadership and uphold Notre Dame’s Catholic mission.
