Job summary

AstraZeneca plc, through its Alexion rare disease unit, seeks a Head of AI in Boston to set enterprise AI strategy and drive measurable outcomes across science, operations and patients. You will lead across Research, Development, Regulatory Sciences, Operations and Commercial.

The role requires strong AI expertise, executive influence and the ability to create clarity in evolving priorities. You will unite business, scientific, data and technology leaders to deliver practical AI solutions with

Qualifications

• 10+ years leading AI, data, digital or technology strategy in pharma/regulated industries.
• 5+ years leading large-scale AI or digital transformations with measurable outcomes.
• Experience translating business/scientific priorities into scalable AI solutions.
• Working knowledge of AI platforms, data environments, privacy, security, governance and responsible AI.
• Experience leading through influence in global matrix organizations with evolving priorities.

Responsibilities

• Set the enterprise AI strategy across Research, Development, Regulatory Sciences, Operations and Commercial.
• Develop and lead a multi-year AI roadmap aligned with business priorities and define investment needs and value measures.
• Identify AI opportunities and turn concepts into funded initiatives with clear ownership from experimentation to scale.
• Define AI governance, decision rights and adoption standards across functions and geographies.
• Turn emerging AI technologies into secure products with clear criteria for experimentation and lifecycle management.
• Embed responsible AI, privacy and security in the AI lifecycle and architecture.
• Advise senior leaders with clear recommendations supporting decisions and prioritization.
• Build AI capability across Alexion through learning, communities of practice and role-based development.
• Measure value and performance with meaningful KPIs across scientific advancement, cycle time, efficiency and cost.
• Lead through influence to shape priorities and develop AI leaders across the rare disease value chain.
