Job summary

AHK, a German-owned industrial machinery manufacturer, is seeking an Operations Manager to lead its U.S. operation in the Chicago area. You will oversee day-to-day activities, develop the team, coordinate field service, and drive improvements in workflows and reporting.

In this hands-on role, you’ll partner with German headquarters, expand the local team, and align service and aftermarket activities with business goals while maintaining focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and operational leadership experience establishing processes, responsibilities, and accountability.
• Experience managing technical service operations, coordinating field technicians and service activities.
• Proven people management ability to lead a small team and support future hiring.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across US and international teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily US operations, establish responsibilities, improve workflows, and ensure accountability.
• Lead and develop the existing team, coordinate priorities, and onboarding of new staff.
• Coordinate field service, scheduling, maintenance, installations, commissioning, and customer service activities.
• Strengthen spare parts, inventory, purchasing, reporting, and administrative coordination.
• Build strong customer relationships and understand service needs; provide responsive support.
• Collaborate with German HQ and project teams to ensure effective communication and execution.
