Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Pathology Lab. You will perform laboratory tests on patient specimens and provide data to aid diagnosis while maintaining quality control and procedures.

Requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related sciences, 1 year of relevant experience, and certification eligibility (ASCP/AMT/NCA/ACHI) within 12 months; failure to certify may downgrade to Technician-Medical Laboratory depending on business

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
1 year of relevant experience.
Certification or eligibility for board certification (ASCP/AMT/NCA/ACHI or equivalent).
Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment; failure to achieve would downgrade to Technician-Medical Laboratory.
Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques and procedures.
Knowledge of specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance.
Ability to maintain quality control and records.
Ability to use computer to enter and retrieve test results.
Analytical skills to make quantitative and qualitative observations.
Ability to work independently amidst interruptions and concurrent tasks.
Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory tests on patient specimens and provide information for diagnosis, treatment or prevention of diseases.
Maintain records of performance and operate within quality control standards.
May participate in research and development and act as a resource to staff; instructs students and staff on procedures.
Follow standard operating procedures and assist in development or modification of procedures.
