Indiana University Health's M-Pathology Lab in Indianapolis seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and complex tests on patient specimens. You will maintain quality control, document results, and support educational activities for students and staff.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related sciences, at least one year of relevant lab experience, and eligibility for board certification (ASCP/AMT/NCA or equivalent) with certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related sciences required.
  • One year of relevant laboratory experience required.
  • Certification or eligibility for board certification (ASCP/AMT/NCA or equivalent) required.
  • Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Failure to achieve certification may downgrade to MT-1 or result in termination based on business need.
  • Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain quality control and other records.
  • Ability to use computer to enter and retrieve test results.
  • Analytical skills for quantitative and qualitative observations.
  • Ability to work independently; manage interruptions and concurrent tasks.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory tests on patient specimens and reports results.
  • Maintains performance records and adheres to quality control standards.
  • May participate in research and development activities.
  • Acts as a resource for staff inside and outside the department and may instruct students.
