Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform routine tests on consumer products, prepare samples, carry out extractions and digestions, and verify results per SOPs and standards.

Under supervision you will coordinate samples, assist with ISO 17025 activities, maintain safe workspace, track inventory, and support quality checks and equipment calibration.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in chemistry or related field is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related science is preferred.
• Experience in a lab setting with safety standards is preferred or equivalent education/experience.
• Computer skills: MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) at a basic level.
• Ability to work independently under supervision and follow written instructions.
• Ability to read safety rules and operating docs and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory tests to determine composition of consumer products.
• Prepare samples, perform extractions and digestions for testing.
• Coordinate samples submitted for chemistry testing with Central Processing.
• Test according to applicable standards and customer protocols; ensure adequate samples.
• Maintain clean working environment and follow PPE requirements.
• Support ISO 17025 activities and QA/QC checks on equipment.
