Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to perform and interpret routine and specialized tests, ensure quality control, and maintain instrument performance in a clinical laboratory setting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field, state licensure or trainee permit with 90-day eligibility window, and certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science.
• Must have computer skills and be proficient with Windows-style applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrates good judgement and conflict resolution.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs, develops and interprets routine and/or specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Monitors quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting; documents actions taken.
• Adheres to regulatory guidelines and accreditation standards for laboratories.
• Participates in performance improvement and cost-reduction initiatives by managing supplies.
• Ensures privacy and proper communication with patients and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
