Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in state of practice (if applicable) or trainee permit or lab assistant license and must obtain CLS Generalist within 90 days of hire.
• ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification within 90 days of hire.
• ASCP categorical or AAB discipline certification if working in an Academic Medical Center facility.
• ASCP certification maintenance for certificates issued after 2004.

Responsibilities

• Performs, develops and interprets routine and/or specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Performs, analyzes and records quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting with appropriate actions for accuracy and precision.
• Adheres to regulatory guidelines and accreditation standards; follows safety and proficiency testing protocols.
• Participates in performance improvement by data collection/analysis and supports cost reduction via inventory management.
• Adapts communication to patient population and maintains patient privacy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
