Job summary

Prairie View A&M University is establishing a pool of qualified applicants for potential adjunct instructor positions in Chemistry. These are non-tenure track, part-time roles (<50% effort) with duties focused on teaching listed courses. Applicants may be considered per semester as curricular and student needs arise.

Responsibilities include teaching up to 7 SCH per semester, maintaining records, posting grades, and mentoring students. Must have appropriate advanced degree in teaching discipline and familiarity with online learning systems.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Level: requires a doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate SCH in the teaching discipline).
• Graduate Level: requires an earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 7 undergraduate/graduate SCH per semester (less than 50% FTE).
• Maintain and manage student records.
• Post grades (assignments, mid-term & final) in a timely manner.
• Submit attendance reporting.
• Mentor and assist students.
• Post and maintain office hours for a minimum of three hours per week.
• Attend orientation/meetings as required by the department.
