Job summary

SGS is seeking a Laboratory Analyst capable of performing hands-on chemical analyses and operating GC and related lab equipment in a safety-conscious environment. The role includes mentoring technicians, ensuring up-to-date safety practices, and sustaining accurate methods and reporting.

Candidates should have a chemistry-related degree or equivalent lab experience, with a valid driver's license and the ability to work under pressure while balancing multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred; or equivalent work experience with a minimum of one year in a laboratory.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Must be able to work with all chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products.
• Ability to differentiate colors accurately by sight.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail; able to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all Laboratory analysis (hands-on working on the Bench).
• Understand and keep current with all Laboratory safety and reporting techniques.
• Provide guidance to Laboratory Technicians to maintain training; may include supervisory duties.
• Understand and keep current with all Laboratory analysis methods.
• Responsible for the operation of Gas Chromatograph and other Laboratory equipment.
• Position requires a dependable and reliable individual; daily presence adds to the Department's success.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
