Job description

Overview

THE ROLE:

The Level II Chemist should have strong skills in applying chemistry knowledge to project assignments, particularly during the experimental design and planning stages. This role involves performing standard chemical and physical analyses of nutritional products in the quality control lab using wet chemistry techniques and instrumental analyses.

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

  1. Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and finished products.
  2. Write chemical analysis procedures for inclusion in test methods.
  3. Assist junior chemists in running experiments for release and stability studies.
  4. Prepare standards and reagents; calibrate and operate laboratory instruments such as HPLC, FTIR, and UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
  5. Interpret test results, compare with standards and limits, and analyze data and historical records for trend verification.
  6. Solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  7. Document data accurately in lab notebooks following cGMP guidelines.
  8. Train laboratory staff, including chemists and technicians.
  9. Review certificates of analysis for accuracy and maintain related files.
  10. Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient laboratory environment.

Experience:

  • 4-6 years of experience in an analytical laboratory performing qualitative or quantitative analyses
  • Experience with wet chemical analysis and instrumental techniques such as FTIR, HPLC, GC, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry
  • Thorough knowledge of cGMP guidelines
  • Nutraceutical or pharmaceutical laboratory experience

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field, or equivalent experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations and compliance
  • Experience in test method development and troubleshooting
  • Master of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
