Job Description

The Chemist I performs testing activities as directed by Department Supervisor in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines to ensure that quoted turnaround times are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing activities as directed by Group Leader in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor backlog and plan testing schedule to ensure quoted turnaround times are met.
  • Ability to work independently following written and verbal instructions.
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills.
  • Wet chemistry techniques utilized will include gravimetry, titrimetry, colorimetry and others as needed.
  • Instrumentation utilized may include Leco Moisture, Buchi KjelMaster, Teledyne Tekmar TOC, Skalar San++, Skalar Primacs TOC, Skalar BOD, Mantech AM401, Seal AQ700, and others as needed.
  • Maintain neat and accurate records.
  • Prepare standards and reagents for sample analysis.
  • Enter testing data into LIMS and monitor for QC failures.
  • Review analytical data to assure data meets method, SOP requirements.
  • Monitor and record environmental conditions in laboratory. Alert management of any out of tolerance findings.
  • Perform calibrations/checks of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance of chemical/supply inventory.
  • Perform general housekeeping within the laboratory to maintain an organized and safe working environment.
  • Conduct daily duties in an efficient and safe manner, remaining compliant with environmental health and safety programs.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. in Chemistry or related field
  • Experience with wet chemistry techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA and SW846 Methods preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English

Additional Information

Compensation range: $18 - $21 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Position is full-time. Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm, with overtime as needed:
