Job summary

Viltis is seeking an entry-level Chemist I to support production of materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme diagnostic tests for a leading diagnostics organization. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field; recent graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Associate degree in a relevant scientific field with 1–2 years of lab experience, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain established manufacturing and production schedules.
  • Prepare critical and non-critical bioreagents used in diagnostic products and manufacturing processes.
  • Follow approved SOPs, manufacturing instructions, and laboratory protocols.
  • Perform in-process quality control testing, including material qualifications and inspections.
  • Use lab equipment such as pipettes, pH meters, spectrophotometers, and chromatography systems.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities with team members to maintain raw bioreagents supply.
  • Investigate production problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory and manufacturing documentation.
  • Follow GMP, GLP, quality system and safety requirements.
  • Handle laboratory materials safely and observe required precautions.
  • Communicate production issues, testing results, and material needs to team members.

Position Overview

Viltis is seeking an entry-level Chemist I to support the production of materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme diagnostic tests for a leading global diagnostics organization.

The Technical Manufacturing Chemist will manufacture bioreagents, perform in-process quality control testing, maintain laboratory documentation, and help ensure that production activities are completed according to established schedules, Standard Operating Procedures, and GMP/GLP requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent chemistry or life sciences graduate, or an associate-degree candidate with relevant laboratory experience, to gain hands-on experience in a regulated diagnostic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain established manufacturing and production schedules.
  • Prepare critical and non-critical bioreagents used in diagnostic products and manufacturing processes.
  • Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures, manufacturing instructions, and laboratory protocols.
  • Perform in-process quality control testing, including material qualifications, quality inspections, and titrations.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as pipettes, pH meters, spectrophotometers, and chromatography systems.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities with team members to maintain an adequate supply of raw bioreagents.
  • Investigate production problems and identify opportunities for process or product improvement.
  • Assist with new laboratory procedures and product improvement protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory and manufacturing documentation.
  • Follow applicable GMP, GLP, quality system, and safety requirements.
  • Properly handle laboratory materials and observe all required safety precautions.
  • Communicate production issues, testing results, and material needs to appropriate team members.
Basic Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field; recent graduates are encouraged to apply, or
  • Associate degree in a relevant scientific field with one to two years of related laboratory experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience.
Preferred Laboratory Experience

Experience or academic exposure involving one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Wet-bench laboratory techniques
  • Pipetting
  • pH meters
  • Titrations
  • Spectrophotometry
  • SDS-PAGE
  • Analytical chemistry principles
  • In-process quality control testing
  • GMP or GLP environments
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to carefully follow written procedures, protocols, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Basic understanding of analytical chemistry theories and laboratory practices.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate testing or production discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with common computer applications, including spreadsheet, database, word-processing, and manufacturing software.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision in a regulated laboratory and manufacturing environment.
