Job summary

Stepan Company seeks a Chemist to join the Construction and Industrial Solutions team in Northfield, IL. You will report to a Sr Research Chemist within the CIS group, conducting project work and executing plans related to CIS applications such as coatings, emulsion polymerization, and gypsum.

You will analyze data, communicate results clearly, and assist in solving problems that drive project success. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry is required, with a pay range of $58,000 to $87,500.

Qualifications

• Proficient in applying the scientific method to design and assess projects.
• Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and data analysis techniques.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail and problem solving.
• Able to rapidly learn new technologies and methods.
• Experience in paints, coatings, or building materials is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Communicate project results, challenges, and opportunities in writing and verbally.
• Order and communicate supply and chemical needs.
• Generate and submit samples for internal or external customers.
• Interface with plant personnel to obtain materials and support scale-up trials; lead product scale-up or modifications.
