Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a Chemist I in Minneapolis to support coil coatings development. You will work with a mentor chemist to plan, execute and analyze experiments, develop polymers, and manage lab operations.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field.
• 1 year of formulating experience and/or performing laboratory work.
• Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis.
• Math knowledge.
• Chemistry knowledge.
• Experience with Design of Experiment.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with a mentor chemist to develop, reformulate, maintain and enhance products through planning, executing and analyzing experiments with clear results.
• Input data, analyze data and document findings daily in lab books or a database.
• Evaluate different polymers for coil application.
• Lead individual or group projects under guidance and apply advanced technologies for product improvements.
• Perform basic paint and coating formulations and tests to meet specifications.
• Present data and findings for internal and external communications.
• Provide timely data to resolve field complaints and manufacturing issues and support new product development.
• Adhere to company safety standards at all times.
