The Chemical Buyer I position is primarily responsible for working with external suppliers and internal staff to provide outstanding service to our customers, while balancing price, lead time, logistics, and on-time delivery of products. This individual is expected to gain procurement experience, sound business acumen, customer care, and communication skills.

About you:

This role involves direct contact with customers, suppliers, and internal departments, requiring excellent customer service, issue resolution, and satisfaction improvement.

  • Learn and develop skills in preparing and managing purchase orders for chemicals, including processing related paperwork.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain competitive quotes, availability, terms, and delivery schedules; evaluate and recommend awards.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to procurement and customer service duties, exceeding performance metrics.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for delivery, quality, and problem resolution.
  • Act as the main contact for supply chain activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with contractual and company requirements.
  • Maintain a positive company image through high standards of business ethics and integrity.
  • Engage proactively with internal and external clients, resolving issues and expediting deliveries as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED with five years of relevant industry experience; CPSM certification or a related bachelor’s degree with one year of buying experience is preferred.
  • Two or more years of purchasing or supply chain experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications and requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report writing software.
  • Positive attitude, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
