Job summary

Corbin Consulting Engineers seeks a senior chemical process engineer in our Hillsboro, OR office. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team on mechanical and process system design for technology and industrial clients, from concept through construction.

The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation quality, and client-facing presentations. A bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and 7+ years of A/E experience are expected; PE is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 7 years of experience working for an A/E consulting firm.
  • PE registration preferred; experience with advanced technology and industrial clients preferred.
  • Strong technical writing and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical and process systems for a range of facilities, including semiconductor plants.
  • Coordinate with design team members across disciplines.
  • Participate in client design reviews and present design strategies.
  • Prepare P&ID drawings, construction specifications, sequences of operations, tests and reports.
  • Provide field support during construction including RFIs and submittals.

Summary

We are seeking a senior chemical process engineer for our Hillsboro office who will work with a competent multi-disciplinary team of peers with a wide range of experience levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design for mechanical and process systems ranging from simple to complex. Types of design can include mechanical facility upgrades for semiconductor manufacturing plants, process piping and exhaust, hydronic systems, facility HVAC, and tool installation packages.
  • Coordination with design team members, both in mechanical/process and other disciplines.
  • Participation in client design review meetings and presentation of design strategies.
  • Preparation of P&ID drawings for various systems, construction specifications, sequence of operations, testing documents, and engineering reports.
  • Services during construction, including field verification, site observation reports, responses to RFIs, and submittal reviews.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Understanding of basic building code requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Excellent technical writing ability.
  • Highly organized.
  • Must show ownership and follow-through on assigned projects.
  • Interest in professional growth.
  • Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam is a plus.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 7 years of experience working for an architectural/engineering (A/E) consulting firm.
  • Experience with advanced technology and industrial clients is preferred.
  • PE registration is preferred.
