Job summary

Corbin Consulting Engineers in Austin, Texas, is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to join a growing, employee-owned firm serving technology, industrial, and life sciences clients. You will lead mechanical and process system designs, collaborate with a multi-discipline team, and participate in design reviews.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in an A/E consulting environment, a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, and PE registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 7 years of experience at an A/E consulting firm.
• PE registration preferred; experience with advanced technology clients is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and process systems for diverse projects including semiconductor facilities.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Present design strategies in client design reviews.
• Prepare P&ID drawings, specs, sequences, tests, and reports.
• Provide services during construction with field verification and RFIs.

We are seeking a senior mechanical engineer in Austin who will work with a competent multi-discipline team of peers with a wide range of experience levels. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new office serving industry leaders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design for mechanical and process systems ranging from simple to complex. Types of design can include mechanical facility upgrades for semiconductor manufacturing plants, process piping, exhaust, hydronic systems, facility HVAC, and tool installation packages.
• Coordination with design team members, both in mechanical/process and other disciplines.
• Participation in client design review meetings and presentation of design strategies.
• Preparation of P&ID drawings for various systems, construction specifications, sequence of operations, testing documents, and engineering reports.
• Services during construction, including field verification, site observation reports, responses to RFIs, and submittal reviews.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Understanding of basic building code requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.

• Must show ownership and follow-through on assigned projects.

• Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam is a plus.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 7 years of experience working for an architectural/engineering (A/E) consulting firm.
• Experience with advanced technology and industrial clients is preferred.
• PE registration is preferred.

Please identify any relevant skills you might have, such as AutoCAD or Revit, or mechanical system modeling software such as PIPE-FLO, Trane Trace, Autodesk CFD, or AutoPIPE. Please provide any past work or volunteer experience in your response, including those that may be non-engineering related.
