Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Chemical Engineer to join the process development team in Welkom. You will help translate laboratory concepts into scalable industrial applications and drive innovative improvements across manufacturing processes.

You will design, test, and optimize processes, work with R&D and production, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and contribute to growth in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in process development, scale-up and troubleshooting in chemical manufacturing.
• Knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
• Familiarity with process simulation software and data analysis techniques.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, test and scale-up new chemical processes from pilot to commercial scale.
• Optimize existing processes for yield, efficiency and environmental impact.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed changes or new technologies.
• Develop and implement robust process control strategies.
• Ensure safety and environmental standards in process development activities.
• Collaborate with R&D to ensure seamless technology transfer.
