Job summary

Marathon Petroleum's Carson Refinery in Carson, California, seeks a Senior Chemical Process Design Engineer (POG) to contribute to refinery strategy and lead process designs for new projects and unit modifications, including PFDs, P&IDs, and heat/mass balances.

You will perform simulations, optimize energy use, support safety reviews, mentor less experienced engineers, and collaborate with operations and vendors to ensure designs meet practical needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• Total 7 years of experience in chemical process design and refinery/ petrochemical operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 and able to work onsite in Carson.

Responsibilities

• Develop process designs for new projects and unit modifications, including PFDs, P&IDs, and heat/material balances.
• Perform process simulations and calculations for equipment sizing and energy optimization.
• Lead economic analysis and establish project rate of return.
• Collaborate with project engineers, operations, and vendors to align design with operations.
• Provide technical leadership during project execution and support commissioning.
