Job summary

Shintech Louisiana is seeking a Material Handling Technician to monitor and operate chemical storage and processing equipment, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. The role includes adjusting variables, inspecting equipment, collecting samples, and maintaining records in a demanding environment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years in chemical manufacturing; familiarity with DCS, P&IDs, SDS, and safety protocols is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience with powered industrial trucks and/or cranes preferred.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, instrumentation, and distributed control systems (DCS).
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, SDS, and technical manuals.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor tank farms and processing equipment.
• Adjust process variables to maintain production conditions.
• Inspect equipment and process areas on rounds.
• Collect samples to ensure product quality and process efficiency.
• Record data and maintain logs and reports.
• Respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues; escalate when needed.
• Follow SOPs, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
