Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) invites applicants for chemical engineering co-ops in Massillon, OH. The role may be filled as a process engineering co-op or a process control engineering co-op depending on mill needs and candidate fit.

Responsibilities include supporting process optimization, data analysis, and testing to improve mill efficiency, safety, and quality. Start pay is $25–$30 per hour with benefits and career opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 and must be a permanent U.S. resident with a valid driver’s license.
• Majoring in Chemical or Paper Engineering or related field and have completed freshman year (or will have by time of co-op/intern).
• Must be 18 years or older at time of co-op/intern.
• Preferred: member of the paper foundation at listed schools and enrollment at state universities in specified states.

Responsibilities

• Support process optimization and engineering projects that improve mill efficiency, reliability, quality, safety, and cost performance.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret process and laboratory data to troubleshoot issues and support business decisions using process information systems.
• Conduct routine pulp, paper, and chemical testing to support evaluations and quality control.
• Monitor key process sensing equipment, consistency loops, and control systems to verify accuracy and reliability.
• Assist with startup activities, maintenance inspections, lab supply management, and updates to safety or chemical documentation.
