Job summary

Primient in Decatur, IL, is seeking an Engineer 1 as a launch pad for engineers graduating in December 2026 or May 2027. You will gain hands-on responsibility in manufacturing and chemical engineering, with exposure to processes and technologies, and mentorship through the Engineering Ladder.

You’ll learn to operate safely, support process improvements, own a process area, and contribute to capital projects under supervision.

Qualifications

• BSc in Chemical Engineering or any related engineering field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of basic chemical unit operations.
• Internships, placements or work experience are useful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Learn to Operate Safely within Primient’s Manufacturing Facilities and complete on-shift shadowing to develop understanding of operations.
• Develop technical expertise in process operations by assisting subject-matter experts in troubleshooting and improving flow.
• Own and optimize a specific process area by monitoring performance and implementing improvements.
• Conduct data analysis and process improvements using data-driven decision making.
• Support project execution and system enhancements, aligning with safety and quality objectives.
• Assist with capital project management from initiation to completion under supervision of senior engineers.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure proper installation and progress of improvements.
