Job summary

Primient in Illinois is seeking a chemistry engineering student to join our team, learning safety and operation through on‑shift shadowing with technicians. You’ll assist experts in troubleshooting process flow and unit operations, while owning an assigned area to monitor performance and implement improvements.

You will conduct process data analysis, benchmarking, and small-scale programming to identify trends, supporting project execution and vendor coordination to drive safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• BSc in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering with expected graduation Dec 2026 or May 2027.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of basic chemical unit operations.
• Internships or related experience helpful but not required.
• Complete 2–3 months of on-shift shadowing with technicians.
• Willingness to work in Primient facilities and possibly serve as shift supervisor during development.

• Learn to operate safely within Primient’s manufacturing facilities through on-shift shadowing with technicians
• Assist subject-matter experts in troubleshooting and improving process flow, unit operation functionality, utilities, and plant interactions
• Own and optimize an assigned process area by monitoring performance, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing improvements
• Conduct process data analysis, benchmarking, and small-scale programming to identify trends and inefficiencies
• Support project execution, system enhancements, troubleshooting, and alignment with safety, quality, and operational efficiency objectives
• Manage and install capital projects from initiation to completion under senior engineer or technical manager oversight
• Follow the CAPEX Stage Gate Process for project approvals
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors to facilitate project progress and installations
• Progress through Primient’s Engineering Ladder from Engineer 1 toward senior engineering and leadership roles

Requirements

• BSc in Chemical Engineering or any related engineering field
• Candidates pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Expected graduation in December 2026 or May 2027
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of basic chemical unit operations
• Any relevant internships, placements or work experience are useful but not essential
• Complete at least 2–3 months of on-shift shadowing with technicians as part of the role
• Willingness to work in Primient manufacturing facilities and potentially serve as a shift supervisor during development
