Job summary

Sodexo in the Ministry of Defence environment is recruiting a Chef to prepare high-quality meals for military personnel and support events, functions and ceremonies.

You will work in a fast-paced professional kitchen, ensure food safety standards, and collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver an outstanding dining experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Chef in catering, hospitality or large-scale food service.
• Hold a recognised culinary qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and health & safety regulations.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment.
• Experience in military, government or contract catering is advantageous; IOSH certs and MS Office skills helpful.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Deliver meals to military personnel and support events and ceremonies.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen sanitation.
• Support large-scale and bulk food production while ensuring quality and presentation.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure a superior dining experience.

What you bring:

• Proven experience as a Chef in a catering, hospitality, or large-scale food service environment, with a passion for delivering exceptional food and service.
• Hold a recognised culinary qualification, such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery, or an equivalent certification.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, demonstrating excellent organisation, communication, and time-management skills.
• Experience within military, government, or contract catering environments is advantageous, as are IOSH certification and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
