Job summary

Ebenezer is seeking a Chef to join the Willows Bend Senior Living team in Fridley, MN. This position ensures meals are prepared and presented to regulatory standards and resident expectations, with a full-time day/early-evening block schedule and rotating weekends.

You will supervise kitchen staff, manage daily operations, document temperatures, follow IDDSI texturized diet guidelines, and uphold safety and hygiene.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Food Handlers certification issued by ANAB-CFP accredited program within 90 days or equivalent.
• 0–1 year of previous kitchen experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items to specified temperatures.
• Assemble meals and bakery items within designated time frames.
• Ensure safe food handling and hygiene policies are followed.
• Document temperatures and labeling for food items.

Job Overview

Ebenezer is looking for a Chef to join our senior living team at Willows Bend in Fridley, MN! This position is responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared and presented in accordance with applicable regulations and customer expectations.

• 80 hours every two weeks
• Full time; Day/Early evening shift
• Includes every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Block Schedule:
  • Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Week 2: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items to specified temperatures, following standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality, nutritional value, and proper portioning. Weigh and measure ingredients per standardized recipes.
• Assemble meals and bakery items within designated time frames, complete daily preparation tasks accurately, and assist with special events.
• Ensure safe food handling by following infection control and safety policies, including proper handwashing, glove use, and adherence to hygiene and dress codes.
• Accurately document food, refrigeration, and sanitation temperatures, cover, date, and label items.
• Proper knowledge and preparation of texturized diets utilizing International Dysphagia Diet Standardization (IDDSI) standards.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by following proper cleaning schedules, using recommended equipment and chemicals, separating clean and dirty areas, and thoroughly scrubbing pots and pans as required.
• Demonstrates the ability to supervise kitchen staff, manage daily operations and customer service in the supervisor’s absence, and effectively communicate resident and guest feedback on meal and service quality.

Required Qualifications

• 0 - 1 year of previous experience
• Must be 18+ years old
• Food Handlers certification Issued by an ANAB-CFP accredited food sanitation program within 90 Days or

Preferred Qualifications

• Food Protection Manager certification Issued by an ANAB-CFP accredited food sanitation program within 90 Days or
• Certified Food Protection Manager certificate (CFPM) Must be issued by the State of Minnesota for locations in the state of MN within 90 Days
• Vocational School Technical Training or Associate Degree - Food Service
• 1 - 3 years of previous experience
• Working knowledge of basic Microsoft applications
