Vernon Terrace of Edina is seeking a Culinary Assistant to handle dining room and to-go meal service for residents, working the 4:00pm–7:00pm shift. This part-time position includes Saturdays and Sundays, plus every other Friday.

Job Overview

Culinary Assistant

is responsible for dining room and to-go meal service to residents within the building.

Nutrition Services Schedule

• 15 hours every two weeks ; Part time
• 4:00pm-7:00pm shift
• Every Saturday and Sunday, and every other Friday

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting:
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident’s specific dietary needs.
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Follows dining room cleaning schedule and procedures.
  • Follow proper procedures for dining room set-up.
  • Follows proper work flow to stay on task.
  • Learns and becomes proficient with EMenu System and restaurant style service.
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
• Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction:
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
  • Accommodates resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to any complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to Executive Director and Culinary Director as appropriate.
