Job summary

Village NYC Gourmet is seeking a Cheese Clerk to sell cheese products and provide remarkable customer service in the cheese department. You will prepare, package, stock, and promote cheeses while maintaining quality standards and presentation.

The role requires a passion for cheese, ability to learn pairings and cooking techniques, and strong communication with customers and team members. Weekend, evening, and holiday availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must enjoy working with and handling a variety of cheese products.
• Should have a passion for cooking with and eating cheese items.
• Must have the ability and willingness to learn about cheese, pairings and cooking techniques.
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Strong communication with customers and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures.
• Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the cheese island provides.
• Maintains the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the cheese island.
• Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying attention to ad items.
• Keeps the cheese island clean and sanitized daily and meets appearance standards.
• Delivers excellent customer service to all customers.
• Cutz, wraps, shreds and packages all types of cheeses for presentation and sale.
• Samples cheeses to customers.
• Stocks and sets up olive bar and oil station.
• Assists to ensure the deli's overall success.
